Featured Work: Alex Larrison for Down to Mars

Alex Larrison is half of the dynamic duo behind Larrison Photography, a husband and wife team that specializes in portrait and product natural light photography and videography. They love working with local businesses, and connected with vintage reseller Down to Mars for a fun, sparkly shoot just in time for the holidays. Here’s a look at how it all came together:

How did you connect with Down to Mars?

I connected with Marcie over Instagram and our shared love of over-the-top sequins and vintage coats.

They definitely have plenty of sequins! What were you going for in terms of the look and feel of the images?

I knew I wanted to experiment a bit since this was a shoot that I could have a lot of fun with. I used a prism to get some fun reflections with the sequins and lights in the store. I also grabbed a piece of rainbow tinsel off of our tree right before leaving the house for the shoot, and used it to shoot through and create some fun colors in the frames.

Wow, who knew tinsel had so many uses? What else happened behind-the-scenes?

It was absolutely freezing so the most fun thing was probably running around downtown in sequined dresses in the snow! It was also so much fun playing around with the DTM clothes and accessories.
